Lauren is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She earned her master’s degree in counseling from Southern Methodist University and her bachelor’s degree in applied learning and development, specializing in special education, from The University of Texas at Austin. She has received training in family counseling, group counseling, individual counseling, and school counseling. As a teacher and school counselor previously, Lauren has experience working collaboratively with children and adolescents in conjunction with their families to overcome challenges faced at school and at home.
Lauren’s work experience over the past 10 years includes special education teacher, 1st and 3rd grade teacher, and professional school counselor in various school settings, working closely with families to help ensure success for their children. At SMU’s Center for Child and Family Counseling, Lauren gained additional experience working with adults to create individualized therapy goals and plans for every client.
Lauren believes the therapeutic relationship is the most valuable aspect of counseling. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused techniques to help reshape negative thoughts, identify feelings, and influence behavioral changes for each client.
Lauren resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband, son, and their most adorable Goldendoodle, Remi.
