Kristin Engberg

Kristin works with clients through a supportive and collaborative process, to establish a trusting relationship built on honesty. She works with each individual to empower them in developing coping skills while recognizing their unique abilities to endure difficult life transitions and achieve their desired goals in life. Kristin understands that each life stage presents different challenges. She personalizes therapy for each individual through an eclectic style, drawing from different techniques and treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and at times, humor.
Kristin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. She earned her Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University, and her undergraduate degree from Indiana University, Bloomington. Kristin is certified in Mediation in the State of Texas. Kristin is also a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist.
Before entering private practice, Kristin worked as a personal counselor for the Collin County Community College District for five years, serving a diverse adult population. Through her passion for education, she worked with young adults as a volunteer in the counseling center at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. Prior to her career in counseling, Kristin worked as Director of Student Outreach and Recruiting at the University of Colorado College of Engineering and Applied Science, and at the SMU Lyle School of Engineering
She has served as a volunteer counselor through Journey of Hope, an organization that provides grief counseling to families mourning the loss of a loved one. Kristin began working with Camp C.O.P.E in 2012 to assist in teaching coping skills to children of deployed service members.
